The most said thing in
e-mails to me of the past three years of HOOM online is "I have so many stories to tell".
Now there is the
opportunity. Tell a story: ie. Some extraordinary experience, a funny incident,
something other HOOMies would relate to... (This recently from me mate in Kansas
- we'll call her Dorothy so as not to identify her - she was describing a recent
get together of several ex-HOOMie priests and brothers/sisters, "...only someone from the Order would have
understood...", and that is it - there are stories to tell that only
other HOOMies would relate to. Whether it is humour, seriousness, metaphysical,
or whatever be free to share a tale. Some of the best stories are on how we
ended up in HOOM. For many it was the climax to the sensational '60s, to others
it was an extension of the spiritual '70s or even the me generation of the '80s.
There are no criteria
for your story. It can be spiritual, humorous, syncretistic...whatever. Except,
to be HOOM related, so I suppose that is criteria. For example there seems to be
many opinions about the Lucas book on HOOM. Well here is your chance to tell
what you experienced.
This is our share the
story space.
Please keep yourself as the star of your
text. It is best to leave other's names out, unless you know they don't mind.
ie. Say Brother M or Rev. K (not Master J though as some letters became names) -
or whatever. The people whose parts are part of our story may very well have
moved on far from how we remember them. We are a zillion years/experiences past
those days - so our stories really are about our selves. For example, as many
know, we are in dialogue with folks we knew 30 years ago, or some we have met
through the HOOM site and we have connected to as if we have known them for the
past 30 years and some have changed drastically, but most haven't. It is very
much like we just went out to the shop to get some tucker and ran in to one
another as if we see each other every day. For anyone studying sociology there
is an interesting string happening here and could be the subject of numerous
studies. In other words there are still some very common threads.
My appointed role with
the HOOM site (I appointed myself) is to provide a service. I have no agenda, no
alterative motive - I 'just pass it on'. I just happen to be in a position to be
able to do this (I am doing research on literature and the Internet and am
setting up an online multimedia journal for the university of
South Australia - and therefore have all the
tools to do this) Oh, and I was involved with HOOM from 1969 - 1979 (by being in
it) and of course up until now.
Well that is it.
Please write that story, if you don't want your name associated with it - fine.
Cheers Terrell
